1989 UIUC Campus Teaching Award and Oakley Award

The UIUC campus Award for Excellence in Undergraduate teaching recognizes faculty members and graduate teaching assistants for outstanding efforts in undergraduate teaching and to emphasize once again that undergraduate instruction is a function of major importance on the Urbana-Champaign campus. The award consists of a certificate, check and a recurring increment in the annual salary of the recipient. Professor Rao received the award in 1989.

Along with the Award for Excellence in Undergraduate teaching, Professor Rao also received in 1989 the UIUC Oakley Award. This award is designed to honor faculty members who have fostered excellence in undergraduate education. The focus of the award is defined annually. Professor Rao received the award for innovation in undergraduate teaching. The award consists of a check.
