1989 Election to IEEE Fellow

Each year, the IEEE selects through a nomination process no more than 1 percent of the senior member grade membership to Fellow status. Election to the Fellow grade, the highest grade of membersip of the IEEE, is an honor reserved for a very limited number of individual who have shown evidence of extraordinary qualification and achievement in the field of electrical, electronics, or computer engineering. Professor Rao was elected to the Fellow grade in 1989 with the citation, "For contributions to electrical engineering education and ionospheric propagation." The award consists of a certificate and the Fellow pin.
